A beautiful garden gate at Pinewood Estate, Bok Gardens, Florida. The worn wood of the gate, the antique hardware, and the beautifully detailed fence design add to the magical feel of this old garden entrance. Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. had designed Edward Bok's Gardens and several private gardens inside Mountain Lake Estates, a neighboring private community. Charles Austin Buck engaged Olmsted's firm to design the landscape of his winter estate. In 1929, landscape architect William Lyman Phillips of the Olmsted Brothers firm began to design the gardens and the placement of the house. In 1930, architect Charles Wait was hired to design the house that has become one of the finest examples of Mediterranean-style architecture in the state of Florida. The Estate was the result of the collaborative inspiration of Buck, Wait and Phillips.
Welcome to Florida The Sunshine State! ABOUT ME: I'm so glad you stopped by my gallery of coastal photography and photo-art! My first passion is photographing the coastal scenes, birds, and wildlife that surround me on Florida's Gulf Coast. My second passion is creating digital art using my photographs as a starting point. My newest passion is turning my photos and digital art into fabric designs for my new wearable art clothing line. You'll see lots of examples of all of these here. ABOUT MY WORK: The inspiration for my work comes from my love affair with the sunshine, sugar-white sand, and sparkling turquoise water here on Florida's Suncoast. Each image starts out as my own original photography. Some pieces...
