This Great White Egret family looked like they were posing for their family portrait. Notice the beautiful mating plumage draped across the branch behind Momma Egret. This nest is across a pond on a rookery island near Venice, Florida. The Venice Rookery is managed by the Audubon Society and consists of a lake with an island in the middle. The island is covered with Mangroves where many different bird species build their nests. Alligators sometimes live in the lake surrounding the Rookery. This location is a favorite spot for photographers, providing great opportunities to get relatively close shots.
