Description
Photographed at Myakka River State Park, in Southwest Florida, just inland from Sarasota about 15 miles. It is a beautiful, tropical wonderland where you can hike or take tour boats out on the river. The Myakka River contains literally thousands of Alligators, so while a tour on a boat is beautiful and interesting, it is most definitely not a place to swim or lay in the sun dangling your feet in the water. Floridians, however, are usually pretty nonchalant about 'Gators and often kayak in this and other local rivers, in kayaks that are smaller than many of the 'Gators! Not me!
In this original photograph, the palms look as if they are growing right at the water's edge, but they are actually quite a distance back from the edge and what you are looking at is a reflection of them - see the water lilies floating over the reflections?
