Description
Sea Grapes are common everywhere near the Florida coast. You often see them as just large, round, green leaves that are interesting, but not spectacular. However, several times a year, the plant shows off when its leaves turn brilliant oranges and yellows. This occurs throughout the year (not just in Fall), because new leaves emerge shiny and coppery, mature leaves are bright green with red veins turning to white, and old leaves take on intense hues of yellow, orange and red.. This display was photographed at Selby Garden, Sarasota, Florida, in Spring, 2016.
