You don't have to travel outside the U.S. to find the tropical paradise of your dreams. What could be more beautiful or tropical than this slice of paradise right here in Sarasota, Florida? Photographed at the Southeast end of Lido Beach, just where Sarasota Big Pass opens up from Sarasota Bay into the Gulf of Mexico. The main part of Lido Beach is around the corner to the right, facing the Gulf of Mexico, but this end facing Sarasota Bay is almost always quiet and feels like your own private beach. Just out of view from this shot are the Mangrove Tunnels where kayakers can explore the shady, underside of the Mangrove forests that populate the keys and provide nesting places for birds and habitats for all kinds of other beachy critters. Through the trees, you'll find a lovely park and many launch points for kayaks, paddle boards, and other watercraft.
