An amazing sunset on Siesta Key Beach. On this evening, both the shore birds and the Snow Birds were out in force. Was it caused or enhanced by the beat of the drum circle?? We'll never know! Siesta Key Beach, in Sarasota, Florida. has a tradition on Sundays called the Siesta Key Drum Circle. Drummers (many of whose style is reminiscent of the hippies of the 60s) circle at Siesta Key Beach every Sunday about 1 hour before sunset. If you're visiting on a Sunday, come just south of the main pavilion between lifeguard stands 3 and 4 on Siesta Public Beach. Just follow your ears. This is not a commercial event but local phenomenon that began spontaneously and now has a life of its own. This close-up can't be enlarged much, but I'll also post a full-size version more suitable for large prints. You'll find it in this same gallery.
