A morning walk on a rare, windless and rainless day at Cannon Beach, Oregon. The largest of the rocks in the distance is the iconic Haystack Rock, pictured on postcards and websites for Cannon Beach. On this morning, the tide was out and most of the people out for a beach walk were congregated near the base of Haystack Rock, investigating the many tide pools filled with Anemones, Starfish, and other sea critters left behind by the receding tide. If you look closely at the people near the rock, you can get a feeling for the scale of this huge rock.
The Oregon Coast is very different from Florida's warm, white sand and blue-green water. In Oregon, the coast is wild and rough, often with strong, cold winds, rain or deep fog, and strong waves. The water is dark blue, choppy, and sometimes has big breakers that can bring in dangerous, full-sized logs.
