Description

This Snowy Egret had a unique way of fishing off this pier. Since it was too high off the water for her to reach and since the water was too deep for wading, she would drop off the edge of the dock, flutter down to the water, grab her prey while still fluttering, then flutter back up to the dock to wait for the next little fish to swim by. In this photo, she had just stepped off the dock and was on her way down. Photograph taken at the Dry Dock Restaurant on Longboat Key, Florida -
